First Post!

OK, now that the bad nerd humor is over…

I am James, and thanks for reading my blog.  I will try to keep you entertained, but I do not guarantee that I will.  Feel free to comment on anything I say.  It may be wrong, but I’ll at least let you say it.

Since I have been a web applications for 12 years I am planning on making use of my knowledge to help people understand in my opinion what I consider to be good, bad, and ugly in in the world of the web.  My primary language is PHP, and often I find myself looking good development libraries, often I find bad ones, but this will be a place where I review my findings.

I have a couple projects that will be open sourced in the next couple months, so I will use this blog to talk about them as well.

I have many interests.  I enjoy photography,  Japanese culture, camping,  and general wander lust.  I will post pictures taken.  Discuss Japan, Japanese language, and share some of the weird things I have seen in Japan or found on the web.

I have entrepreneurial interests.  Cofounder of Givvy.com.  I also have other ideas that I am working on that I hope to put into production soon.

Over the years I have interacted with many different social circles.  As a teen I played in bands, so I have friends who are musicians.  When grunge took hold in the 90s, I hid amongst the goth/industrial/fetish scenes.  I still enjoy much of the goth and industrial music and fashion.   Don’t worry I don’t dress all in black.  I have quite the normal wardrobe, as I am incompetent when it comes to dressing stylishly.

I’ve always been infatuated with technology.  If new tech comes out that peaks my interest I am usually one of the first among my friends to have/use it.  Technology reviews will follow.

Maximum rating on this blog “X”.  Not that I plan on making a habit of talking about sexual activities.  I may from time to time bring up subjects of discussion that are a bit racy, I figured I should at least warn you that it could happen.
