Full Circle v0.5.1 Release
by jandrews on Mar.31, 2009, under PHP Development
I am happy to announce the release of Full Circle v0.5.1 This is a new feature release. I asked for feature requests, and Gary mentioned he would like to be able to enable disable posting to facebook and only enable it on certain posts. It was a relatively easy feature to add, so I did.
At the bottom of the advanced edit page. You will find 2 new checkbox fields at the bottom of the page. One for twitter one for Facebook. You can disable one or both. In your Full Circle settings page, you can enable Facebook and twitter, but set their default to be disabled posting. If this is the case then the 2 new checkbox fields on the advanced edit page will be unchecked. Checking them pushes the post to which ever ones you have activated.

Thanks for the plugin. I’ve been looking for a good one that will let people easily link my posts to social media and this seems to fit the bill.

Are there any specific sites you’d like to add, I am planning on finding more I am just not sure what the most popular ones are besides the ones i’ve listed.

Do you have screenshots of this plugin?
April 2nd, 2009 on 5:39 pm
Hi Steve,
There are no screenshots, as the only thing that is really displayed on the screen are the buttons linking to social media sites like digg, and the admin screen. Everything else happens in the background. I didn’t feel the need for a screen shot of the admin screen. The link themselves are what are under all my blog posts, so you can see what those looks like here.

Hi James… I’ve tried installing Full Circle a few times on my WordPress site. I’ve updated to WordPress 2.71. I keep getting this Fatal Error:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in /usr/local/www/speakupblog.tomorrow.org/data/wp-content/plugins/full-circle/facebook-platform/php/facebook.php on line 38
Any ideas as to what I can do to get this working?
Thanks for your help!
Judith

Hi Judith,
The syntax error is caused because you are using a server that is running php4. The facebook libraries only support php5.

Hi James… That answers my question. I’ll see if I can get php5 installed on the server. Thanks!

Beautiful – this will work! Thanks so much!

Hi James… Just a followup fyi…my blog host will not upgrade to php5. So, unfortunately, I can’t use your plugin. Too bad.

The plugin conflicts with some of the other plugins related to Facebook. The 2 others I am using are Facebook Connect and WPBook. The WPBook works fine with FaceBook Connect, but Full Circle and Facebook Connect have conflicts – only one of the two can be activated. I had to deactivate your plugin to prepare enabling users to be able to login with their Facebook credentials (automatically creates user/pass in WP). Any resolutions?

Shanto,
Give it about 15 minutes and there should be a new version of Full Circle. I made a change to check to see if the Facebook API is included. Can you give it a try and tell me if it works ok with the plugin you are using.

Great plugin, but i have one problem. In Facebook, a heavily pixelated icon shows up by the status update on my home page and my profile page. What is it? The weird thing is, it shows up sometime after the initial posting of the status update!
The image is safe_image.png…

Hi Robert,
There are no images that are part of Full Circle (other then the icon links). What you are seeing probably part of your wordpress them that Facebook seems to think is a valid image for the content in the link. I am looking to make Full Circle suppress article images in the next release, so hopefully that’ll get rid of this problem for the users who have commented on having this problem.

will this allow me to push the posts to a facebook group instead of a profile?
Thanks

Hi Kevin,
I haven’t figured out how to do that, I’ve had a couple requests for it. Once I don’t think the Facebook API allows for that yet.

Nice work with the Full Circle plug-in. I have a small feature request – would it be possible to have it create a tinyurl (instead of the full URL) when posting to Twitter/Facebook? That would be awesome.
April 27th, 2009 on 9:11 pm
Thanks Rob. TinyURL will be part of FullCircle before the 1.0 release I just haven’t added it yet.

Ken,
I am glad you like the plugin, but I am afraid customizing of Facebook wall is beyond support that I provide for the plugin.

Hi!
I just was happily using it when my post didn’t appear on facebook, but they appear on twitter, and i’ve tried deactivating all plugins on WP and still doesn’t post anything on facebook.
Do you know why does it happen?
Thanks!
August 22nd, 2009 on 11:51 pm
Mixu, Facebook was probably having server issues. If it is having API server issues then it wouldn’t ever show up.
August 23rd, 2009 on 1:04 pm
Hi! Thaks for answering.
But i’ve tried several times posting some testing posts, and they still don’t appear at facebook
Is there some way of debugging what happens?
Thanks again

Mixu, It sounds like your key with facebook may have somehow expired then, I recommend going disable facebook in the control panel, and then go through and generate a new “one time code”
August 23rd, 2009 on 1:37 pm
Done it twice, and still there doesn’t appear any post
I’ve noticed that when posting in facebook the selectable “Post to Facebook?” when you click it, it selects or unselects the “Allow comments on this post”, quite strange.
If you prefer you can mail me so we don’t flood the comments of this post.
Thanks.

I have both a facebook personal profile and a facebook “page” for our blog. This setup, as I understand it, would allow us to send items to the profile, but is there a way to send things only to the page?
